Cultural shock

The lecture is about culture shock. What is culture shock? culture shock happens when people go to the different country with diffetrent culture. In this situation everything is new like city, people, foods. People have different norms and values in different culture. What is value and norm? value is people's ideas about something and norm is something that they normally do. For instance, in Chinees culture family always can be considered number one and being independent is number two. However, in Americam culture being independent can be considered number one and family is number two.

The proffesor presents more information about culture shock and defence mecanism.
In culture shock sometimes people get mental disease such as being unconfortable,angry and homesick. At first every thing is new, and people do things in a different ways. Actually, in culture shock people use defense mecanisim. There are four defense mecanisim . There are repression, regression, isolation, regection. Repression means people push things that bothers them down. regression means people go back, they act younger, silly or crazy. Sometimes they go back home. Isolation means people are really themselves. Regression means people doesn't like the new culture and regect that.

There are six symptoms of cultural shock. First, people from the same culture always get to gether and complain. Second, is blank. For insrance, they say oh,waht? did you say something? they don't want to cennect with different people. Third one is temper and are very angry. Forth , people get sick, stomach pain, long cold and skin problem. Fifth is people afraid . Sixth, is they don't feel safe.

Four stages of culture shock are listed as follows. First, is excitement means it's like honymoon and everything is interesting and new. Second is understanding the differences, ideas, foods. Also, people should take care of themselves. This stage takes about two months. Third stage is adjustment that people start learning the language, and they make new friends. Fourth stage is recovery that people getting better .



At the end the some cures are suggested by the lecture. First, people should keep themselves busy. Second is hardworking , going out and excersising. Also , people should be active and socialize. Finally, learn the new language and customs can be another good way to cure cultureshock.

The easiest assignment that I did in 5a was the first assignment about idioms. We were asked to write three idioms and thier history. In my point of view, the hardest assignment that we did in 5a was writing a critique about the article.
The article was written by intenational student. It was about the international and Us born students relationship.

In my point of view, many family businesses was destroyed by Wallmart arrival. In fact, it's not fair that many families lost their jobs, for another business comes. Alot of families have tried many years to have a sussesful business, so they become really disappointed.

I certenly agree that Wallmart doen't have any benefits for employees. In fact, employees are given a minimum wage and, they aren't given any benefit. Many of them can't afford even doctor's fees. However, the Wallmart owners say, they are really responssible and benefitial for employees.

Wallmart is a big American chain store that sells everything such as cloths, foods, elecrical tools, and other things. As it can be seen in the video, after Wallmart arrival many family businesses destroyeds. Some American family are reaaly upset and dissapointed, for they have attempted for many years to have a successful business. For instance, there is an old man who says he was working very hard since 1982 to have a successful business and can serve people in a best way. He added Wallmart chain stores ruined his business and all his attempt that he did in many years.

As it can be shown, people who works in Wallmart are also furious. They want to have union. At first, Wallmart made many promises. It suppose to have many benefits for employees. After a while, employees understand that it isn't true. Wallmart doen't have any benefits for them. For instance, they couldn't get health card, or insurance. Moreover, working in Wallmart is very difficult, for it's always very crowded . Furthermore,The employees don't get paid enough.

However, the Wallmart owners and managers are happy and confident. They says Wallmart havs many benefits for employees and proud of it. Finally, employess feel ignored, not confident, scared and angry. Therefore, they want to have union.

My first impression of Yueli

At first day we had an exam in a Yueli. Befor starting the exam, the president of Yueli wellcomed us, and then he explained briefly about the Yueli's curriculum. He talked very kind and friendly. Then Yueli's trips were mentioned by one of the staff. They seemed to be very entertaining. In my point of view, Yueli's atmospher was very friendly, and the staff were very nice. I was deligted by their good behavior with the new students.

The exam wasn't difficult for me, so I new that I was going to be accepted in Yueli. Actually, I was enthusiastic for starting my course in Yueli. After the exam we visited Youk University campes wich was new for me . I talked with some of Yueli's students. They were very friendly.

My first impression of Yeli was really positive. I am very happy that I am studying in Yueli.

my name is donya. I came from Iran. Tehran was the city that I was living there. It's a big city with high population. I've been living in Canada for one and a half year. I am living here with my family. I like travelling and playing piano. I want to go to Yourk University to study music. I am teaching piano now.

I like to have my own school of music in 2017. I am going to do all my best.
